Since 2018, I have been campaigning for the Kingston Food Bank- Partners in Mission each December. ![]()

I was there. I was someone who relied on social programs like the Food Bank to feed my family. I was someone who utilized social services, including social assistance and geared-to-income housing. I have been there.
And I understand that the struggle goes far beyond needing help. The struggle also includes having to *ask* for help. The emotional toll it takes on a person, or parent to have to reach out and say: “I can’t do this on my own” can absolutely break the human spirit.
I had to do it. Twice.
The second time, while talking with the social worker, I burst into tears. I had gotten away from the system, and here I was – pregnant, scared, young children at home, and I needed help again.
She said to me: We all need help sometimes. It just depends on how we ask for it.
Kingston – I am asking for your help this holiday season. Please join me for The Weekend of Care-ing, December 12th, 13th, and 14th 2025. I’ll be collecting any/all donations, including your monetary gifts to support families right here in our region.
December 12th – 4pm – 7pm; Highway 15 Food Basics
December 13th – 4pm – 7pm; Chinlock Wrestling “Holiday Havoc 3” at the BGC South East
December 14th – 10am – 5pm; Giant Tiger, RioCan
If you are able to donate, give, stop by, say hello – I would love to see you. We will put the emphasis on the Top Wish List items the Food Bank so desperately needs, but we’ll not be turning any donation away.
Much love;
